@dermen can you help me out by brainstorming what exactly we want to do here? As far as I understand the "difference" correlator, we just compute the inter correlator for the previous N shots and subtract that. Is that right?

Maybe if you can write up a mock docstring for the kind of method we should write and paste it here, that would be awesome. I don't think the code will be much work, just want to write the correct thing.
