by storing checksums of the read blocks, it's possible to check if the disk is lying about its ability to read the data from the platters

when running in exclusive mode save the checksum (truncated SHA-1 or something fast like BLAKE2) of the block when reading, compare it when re-reading the same block, report blocks that return different data on subsequent reads
