Hello,

I was wondering if there is a shorthand version of ProForma for direct references to peptides or proteoforms within , say, the main text of a manuscript. For example instead of writing S[phospho]EQVENCE derived from Gene SEQ maybe it could be written as SEQ pS1-E8 (Gene, first amino acid and superscript residue number-last amino acid and superscript residue number). This would be particularly useful for large proteoform fragments containing one or more modifications. Maybe there is guidance from IUPAC or some other body working with protein nomenclature? I could not find any specific rules on this particular subject.

Bests,

James Fulcher
