Config wizard #1121
Comments
This would be an awesome feature (especially for new users)! |
Would love that |
@trapexit is this still on your list of features? Can you explain a little what you envision for this, functionality wise, and how it should look? (CLI/TUI/web interface?) for a MVP, i'm guessing it should:
i don't understand how snapraid fits into this tbh. I know what snapraid does and i understand that many people use both software, but i don't see what mergerfs would need to support specifically. Does snapraid work if you simply point it to mergerfs pool? (thus calculating parity of the underlying disks within the pool?) |
Yes, of course it is. As mergerfs is a server service the primary concern is command line. But my interest isn't just mergerfs. It's storage setup in general. But there is a lot to consider including giving mergerfs proper config file which is a whole thing in and of itself. snapraid has nothing at all to do with mergerfs and you don't configure it to point to mergerfs pools. You setup them up separately but similarly. |
Would be nice, once the config file is introduced, to have a wizard that would walk people through the setup of a new or existing pool. Bonus feature would include snapraid support.
