The new UI based configuration in HA is quite frustrating IMO as it always attempts to start the stream to validate the values. My guess is that, for whatever reason, the live stream is not working correctly so it will never validate. You should look at the logs from ring-mqtt when you attempted to add the camera and see what it says. |

Yes, but this error isn't very useful since it tells nothing about the stream process in ring-mqtt, it's only showing that it is indeed the validation that is failing. The more interesting logs would be from ring-mqtt itself, although it still might not be enough to find the core issue, but it would at least prove that this is where the problem is. |

This just shows the stream timed out after 10 seconds, could be networking related or any of dozens of other issues. Until someone is willing to share a camera with me that has this problem it's unlikely it will be solved as I can't reproduce it on any of my devices. |

I am having this same issue, it seems like my cameras won't turn off after I try doing live stream on RTSPtoWebRTC. |

All I can do is repeat my previous reply:
Basically, if you are unwilling to temporarily share access to your camera that is experiencing this issue, then posting any other information in this thread is of no use in solving the problem. If you have a camera that is unable to live stream and you are willing to share it with my account temporarily, I will happily dig into it more deeply, but this problem is far too complex and has too many variables to be likely solved here by posting basic logs that just say the stream timed out. |

I have just experienced this same issue. The validation times out (sometimes) I was able to add two cameras and then they immediately failed. Same type of logs as above. I would be more than happy to share access to one of my cameras that is having issues. I can see in the logs and the ring app that ring-mqtt is indeed communicating with the camera and does launch a live stream. |

I've had two different users share their cameras with me and so far, in both cases, the issue was simply that the camera stream did not start fast enough so the RTSP clients would time out. Most RTSP clients time out if the stream doesn't start within 5 seconds so ring-mqtt has to receive the request from the client, initiate a stream request via the Ring API, which normally takes 500-1000 milliseconds, then the stream must start within the remaining 4 seconds. I couldn't really figure out why these cameras took so long to start a stream, but they were visibly longer than any other cameras I had access to, even when starting a stream in the Ring app. For example, my cameras (I have 7 of them) will all successfully start a stream in the Ring app in 1-2 seconds pretty much every time, while for these users their cameras would take 3-4 seconds, or even longer, for the stream to start. Since most RTSP clients will time out in 5 second, ring-mqtt has to receive the request from the client, initiate a stream request via the Ring API, which normally takes 500-1000 milliseconds, then the stream must start within the remaining 4 seconds, so you might want to check and see how long your camera takes to start a stream before bothering to share a camera with me. If you do still want to share one of your cameras feel free to send me an email to my same username at gmail and we'll see if this is the same problem or something different. |

I just ran a test with the two cameras. Both load in the Ring app in typically less than 4 seconds. Most times they load in about 1-2 Seconds. Tailing the Ring-MQTT logs I can see the following: 2022-08-20T20:16:59.981Z ring-rtsp [Doorbell] Sending command to activate live stream ON-DEMAND Looking in the Ring app I see that a live stream event does occur and can play it back. I am using a docker container and wondering if it could be a docker networking issue. |

It's possible it could be a Docker networking issues, but I think it's unlikely. If you are willing to share one of your cameras with me I can check it out with my development instance and see how it works. If you are up for this email me with same username at gmail. |

Howdy yall.
I went through the process and was able to get ring-mqtt up and running and the generic camera. The issue I am having is the Stream Source URL only works with _event and not _live at the end of the address. If I have _event then it will successfully configure, but when I change it to _live, it generates an error "Unknown error occurred" and wont let me submit the changes until I revert back to _event.
Any ideas on why one url would work, but not the other?
