Bug in mobile app
Android App

Describe the bug
Since the last update (I think, I never saw this high usage in the past), I see that the background battery usage went up a lot. Only today, Tuta app used 17% of my battery while not being open a single time (11 hours of background usage). I used a couple of time Proton Mail and it used less than 1%.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Just checked the battery usage on the phone, updated all my apps this weekend.

Expected behavior
Going back to a decent battery usage, around the same as other mail app (Proton Mail or Outlook).

I have the same issue. Since last charge (charged in the evening, checked in the morning with 60% battery left):

  • tuta - screen on time: 1 min, background: 11 h 37 min, usage: 10%
  • Gray-jay (video) - screen on time: 50 min, background: 2 hr 7 min, usage: 8%
  • mull - screen on time: 1 hr 5 min, background: 10 min, usage: 6%

On Google Pixel 8 and GrapheneOS without Google Play Services.

Usage percent would be way higher if I'm not running Signal, which has a similar problem.

Since #2025 (same issue with android 12), I use my own fork jgora@11e494a with less battery usage.
Wakelock should not be necessary when app is excluded from Doze optimizations
