Background

• When a user adds a step to their journey, they need to configure that step’s logic.
• Some steps have straightforward logic, others can have many branches attached. Each branch has its own logic and settings.
• Users need to be able to manage each step and each branch (rename, duplicate, delete, etc).
• Currently, a step can have a “needs input” state (meaning it hasn’t been filled out), or a filled out state. We do not allow partially saved steps. Users must fill out all required fields in order to save the step.

Do you have any recommendations for how to handle drill-ins in side sheets or side panels? I have explored 3 options:

• Option 1: Users can edit all branches from the same page on the side sheet. I’m concerned about branches with many conditions – users may have to scroll to view and edit each branch. Additionally, we may introduce additional settings for each branch.
• Option 2: Users can configure the main step logic from a side sheet or side panel. Editing a branch is done within the panel, as a drill-in. We would need to present breadcrumbs or a back button, etc.
• Option 3: Users can configure the main step logic from a side sheet or side panel. Editing a branch is done from a modal.

Do you have any recommendations on where to keep step-level actions vs. and branch-level (drill-in) actions, such as renaming, duplicating, deleting?
