This issue requests support of lyrics. Lyrics are commonly stored in LRC format, and may be found in one of:

  • In the audio file's directory. In this case the LRC file is with the same name as the audio file, but with different extension (e.g. x.wav to x.lrc).
  • Embedded in the audio file. In this case, value of tag/metadata LYRICS or lyrics is content of the LRC lyrics.

I need to check if the tag reader I use reads out this field. The solution with with lyric files feels kind of unreliable. Isn't there some online API for this?
I'm using musicbrainz for radio images if the station sends icy tags. It's also not 100% reliable as musicbrainz sometimes has weird images but I'll take a look for lyrics.

The solution with lyrics files were conventional (see Wikipedia pages about LRC files), so it may be not so unreliable.

I really hope you can add this feature. I found many music apps on Ubuntu, some of which have a beauty UI, but none of them support displaying lyrics
