Write on keyboard should always search

Hello,
mate-menu is really useful but it has one strange behaviour.

• Open the menu
• Hover the mouse on some entry, not in the application menu (like on Terminal or Control Center)
• Write on the keyboard

It does nothing but it should search on the menu like always

I can confirm this issue. To fix it would require changing quite a bit of code, unfortunately, since the search input box is deeply nested and so doesn't know when you're typing unless your focus is on the right place.

I'll see what I can do, but it won't be a quick fix

Thanks a lot. It's not a big issue but i often move the mouse after clicking on the Menu button and then I can't use the "write to search" which is the feature I love most.

Damn. Every thing I thought inconvenient was already requested by others. Anyway, It has been 3 years and it has not been changed, so this is impossible?
