I have been developing a simple speech-to-text plugin for Plate. Here is a short demo:

Does this use web speech API or OpenAI or ?

I ask because web speech works on Chrome and Mac Safari, but not on Firefox, Brave, etc.

For Living Spec we ended up implementing both, and found the OpenAI results were a lot better so we stuck with that. There's also some interesting considerations depending on approach for long time to wait before sending speech to be transcribed. Happy to discuss if that's helpful.

The demo uses the web speech API, but I guess a plugin could be configured to accept any transcription API as option
