Use openurl rest api van crossref instead of the "old" one?

There seems to be a new and "improved" version of the crossref api: https://www.crossref.org/documentation/retrieve-metadata/openurl/. According to an internal PR this api
contains more (distinguished) information than the old one (the one with "/works" in its url).

Any one who knows more about this "new" api, and its intended use (and why they apparently didn't fix it in the old api?)

Interesting remark in this PR is also the existence in the old api of "issn-type" vs "ISSN", and "isbn-type" vs "ISBN", which both contain the same data, but the "-type" version contains the type of it (electronic vs print)
