As a: library administrator, repository manager, patron or data analyst
I want to: improve the statistical capabilities in DSpace 7
So that: I can gain better insights into the usage of collections, items, and the repository as a whole, and present this information in a visually engaging and informative manner.

Acceptance criteria:

  • Data Roll-Up Functionality
    • Parent-Level Views: The system rolls up all item-level statistics (e.g., views, downloads) into their parent grouping (e.g., collections, communities) for a comprehensive overview.
    • Whole-Site View: The repository offers a global statistics view that aggregates data across the entire repository.
  • Enhanced Visualizations
    • Interactive Charts: Include bar charts, line graphs, and pie charts to depict trends and usage statistics over time.
    • Geographical Maps: Display data usage geographically, highlighting where users access materials from.
    • Tables: Provide tabular data for detailed.
  • Highlight Popular Data
    • Popular Authors: Showcase the most accessed or cited authors in the repository.
    • Popular Items: Highlight top items based on metrics such as downloads and views.
  • User Experience Improvements
    • The statistics interface is intuitive and responsive, supporting multiple device types.
  • Implementation Details
    • Statistics should be real-time or near-real-time, depending on the repository’s processing capabilities.
    • The interface adheres to modern design principles and is visually consistent with DSpace 7’s theme.
