Hello, I'm an Assistant Reference Librarian at the University of Toledo and I'm trying to use some RSS feeds on our libguides. Some of them are working great but I am experiencing some issues with Three of the RSS feeds.

  1. Budget of the U.S. Government
  2. Compilation of Presidential Documents
  3. Economic Report of the President

I'm going to be completely honest with you that I do not know how to code at all so I don't know if this is even possible, but when I use these RSS feeds in out libguides (platformed on springshare) the RSS feeds are not from the most recent release down (ie. newest to oldest), the RSS feeds are oldest to newest. At first I thought perhaps this was a Springshare issue but then I looked at the feeds individually and noticed that the newest uploads are uploaded at the bottom of the feeds rather than the top which is why the RSS feeds on my libguide are loading the oldest content first.

Example of what I mean on the Economic Report of the President is here:

The first item on the feed has a publishing date of Tue, 17 Nov 2020 20:06:48 +0000, while the few on the very bottom has various publishing dates. The items are not in chronological order, with 2017 being at the top of the feed and 2022 being at the bottom, with various dates in the middle.
Example of what I mean at bottom is here:

In this RSS feed the items are chronological but they are from oldest to newest. This is also the issue on the Budget of the U.S. Government RSS feed as well.

Would it be possible for it to be newest to oldest? That way when a new one comes out it would display and show the newest item first?

I really hope I have explained this well! I also hope I'm not a bother if there is a really simple solution and I just cannot find the answer! Thank You!

I apologize for missing this. I will look to see what can be done about this - to confirm, you are using SpringShare, and the widget you are using does not allow for sorting the results of the feed?

https://ask.springshare.com/libguides/faq/963 shows a configuration form that does not include an option to sort the list differently.
