Plotting 1D Data in VisIt #19805
-
I have some 1+1D data (x & time) from a simulation code that I would like to export for use in VisIt. So, is there either an obvious data format I should be using for getting this data into visit so that curve objects can be generated at various time slices easily? Or is there an obvious way of plotting the curve from the vtu file? This cannot depend on a custom plugin as I cannot expect my users to be compiling their own copy of visit. |

@ianabel sorry you are having trouble with some simple curve data. I think the best option is to store the data as x y pairs, line by line in an ascii file with Example...

BTW...using a custom plugin requires compiling only the plugin against an installed VisIt. |

Thanks, completely forgot about plain text as an option. That seems wisest! |

I think the best option is to store the data as x y pairs, line by line in an ascii file with
.curve
extension.Example...
The
# TIME
line allows you to associate a simulation time for all curves in the file...thats for cases where the curves are all taken at some time during a simulation run.The
# <string>
lines define a new curve name and the data following it.
