Building VisIt on SUSE Enterprise Server

Dear VisIt developer/support team,

I am trying to build visit on the new cluster system, merlin7, at Paul Scherrer Institute (https://www.psi.ch/en/awi/the-merlin-hpc-cluster). However, I receive the error and cannot compile it. Could I ask what I should do? Thanks in advance for your help.

Operation system: SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP5
Version of visit: 3.4.2
Command to build: ./build_visit3_4_2
build_visit3_4_2_log.gz

thank you for including the log file. Based on the information in the log, Qt wasn't built with the necessary X11/xcb requirements needed by VisIt. Most likely the packages aren't installed on your system.

You can take a look at Qt's X11 requirements docs for packages needed by Qt (as needed for VisIt).

You will need to re-build at the very least Qt, VTK, and VisIt. (blow away the build/install results for these libraries). Often it is better to just start

In the log file you can find an entry staring with:
-- Configure summary:
This is a summary of features configured for Qt.

In the following section, xkbcommon-x11 and xcb-sm entries should both be yes.

And in the following section, both GLX_Plugin and XCB_GLX should be yes

    GL integrations:
      GLX Plugin ......................... no
        XCB GLX .......................... no
      EGL-X11 Plugin ..................... no

The items needing yes entries should help you figure out which packages need to be installed.

The qt config summary information is also available as config.summary in the qtbase-everywhere-src-6.4.2-build directory created by build_visit.

Thank you so much for your quick support. I understood that I have the problem of qt, and config.summary is convenient to check. I am working on xkbcommon-x11 and xcb-sm. Thank you again and have a nice weekend.
