Have you tried data management settings?

The point is that I barely used the app that day. Typically I saw data consumption at level of 100 MB a day.

Oh I see!

Do your stats say whether it was foreground or background data?

@GregTonoski

30 GB foreground, 10 MB background.

Also, phone battery drained quickly at the time.

It could be something user specific with your settings.. Relays, follow list, hastags or such.

Not sure how to investigate it.. Besides maybe trying with your npub.

Feel free to share your npub to: npub142srz0tkhynwkw65g37c4tr4r938rfchchcq9akr4c8h0thyxjuqs9ldrf

But I understand if privacy doesn't allow for it.

Got the npub, feel free to delete.

Can you please check your relay settings. Is there any relay that has consumed abnormal amount of data?

How to verify the amount of data that a relay transferred that day? I think I can see current consumption only in the Relays screen.

Yes, that's the screen. Odd, it's all 0

That's because the screenshot was made at another day (after I blocked Amethyst app from using mobile data).

Shame, would have been good to see if it's a single relay that is misabehaving.

Also, have your tried "WiFi only" in settings?

There were a couple of MASSIVE videos placed on Nostr in the past week. I noticed I was downloading 50MB/sec of a single 14GB video at some point. I wonder if the video just kept playing in the background after a swipe-up to close app gesture.

Maybe we need to warn users when very large files are posted.

I would guess that there were video data downloaded in a loop in background by Amethyst. I might have seen playback position indicator movement in a media playback widget in notification panel or a lock screen at some moment if I recall correctly.

Yeah, that's a good idea IMHO.

I wasn't able to find anything wrong with your profile @GregTonoski. I suspect the issue @vitorpamplona mentioned, viewing large video.

Using the "wifi only" settings should help a bit!
