Can a model trained in a specific language be applied to other languages?

I use a model trained on English dataset, like trump's voice model, and it worked on an English voice ,but when I input a Chinese voice, the output sounds not really good
Can a model trained in a specific language be applied to other languages? And how should it be adjusted if the performance is not satisfactory
