Homepage documentation is out of date

The Jekyll homepage (gh-pages branch of this repo) is great, but it's out of sync with the project's current capabilities and the repo's README. It needs to be updated so it can be maintained and continue to be a good resource for users.

@theutahkate has volunteered to work on this.
