Research results:

  • Media Session API: the spec continues to evolve (it's still a Working Draft, with the most recent commit from last week), and still no browser supports all of its features
  • Sourcing In-band Media Resource Tracks from Media Containers into HTML: no noticeable activity since we last checked a year ago
  • WebCodecs: Firefox support is only in the nightly release, so it's not yet fully supported (bug)
  • WebAssembly: latest from RDK as of a few weeks ago is support still is not available 😞
  • Push API: still no support in WPEWebKit: Push and Service Worker Support WebPlatformForEmbedded/WPEWebKit#1019
  • Web App Manifest: similar to the Media Session API, the spec continues to evolve (it is also still a Working Draft, with the most recent commit from last week), and still no browser supports all of its features
  • WebTransport: basic support is still not available in Safari

Given there will be no changes to this section given the lack of full support of these features, we agreed to close this issue
