As great as it is, your example flow is kind of missing things.

I am needing to use your node - or: have been suggested I use it to get the stuff needed - but it is confusing.

I want to use the node for multiple log files. All the same format. But different for individual machines.

I am stuck/confused with the name of the log file, the "add new config" option.

Where/who/which file name is used?

If I am wanting to use the node in 8 different places, do I set up one node with the 8 configurations or just use it 8 individual times setting the filenames in each node?

In order to log to different files you only need to set the file name individually. They can all share the same configuration.
