I wonder how DJ compares to other periodic project updates in the crypto space and wider open source software space.

If anybody has time and interest to check other updates and share your experience:

Funny, I just found "EOS Digest": https://cryptodaily.co.uk/2019/06/eos-digest-dan-larimers-interview-vote-lobbyism-bots-in-dapps-and-facebooks-libra

Looks like they're publishing on cryptodaily.co.uk though, not separate publication. Though am seeing this archive now: https://www.eosphere.io/category/eos-digest/

Looks like they're on issue nubmer 6

Not sure if this fits exactly, but Aragon is apparently trying using a hashtag on Twitter: #aragonchangelog

Interesting that it is not an account but a hashtag which can be spammed.

Being spammed would imply the project was more popular? Not to bash them (I dig Aragon), but don't see much activity on their social channels generally.

Uh, spam is not the worst. Randos may use the hashtag to undermine the project. Or worse, a hacker/scammer may posts malware with the hashtag. Maybe I'm missing something.

EthHub Weekly looks solid https://ethhub.substack.com/p/ethhub-weekly-72

Very interesting...EthHub is the closest thing I've seen to the Decred Journal...but with a little looser style, and feels a little more "dashed off", less rigor.

This Week in Rust is openly developed on GitHub. If you find any errors in this week's issue, please submit a PR. (issue 320)

Yay! They're doing it since 2013. 272 contributors, 304 forks and 411 stars. Impressive.

They even have a small script to detect new contributors in a single Git repo.

Bitcoin Optech website and newsletter use a similar workflow. Unlike DJ, they heavily use GitHub's review features. The project is bigger too: 40 forks and 72 stars.

Bitcoin Optech has a nice Topics section that has a page for each notable topic along with backlinks from mentions in their newsletter. https://bitcoinops.org/en/topics/
