How to install on Win10 - No Kicad command prompt - How to install on 5.1.x

I'm trying to follow how to install on Windows 10. It says to open up a Kicad command prompt.. I have no such beast??
I have kicad 5.1.6
How do I install?

@jbuszkie I would download and install the latest KiCad 6.0. otherwise it will be a lot more work than necessary.

So no way to use it on 5.1.x? I don't really want to upgrade yet to 6.x...

Not that I know of,
KiCad 6.0 can be installed in parallel with KiCad 5 unlike KiCad 5 and 4.
I was able to panelize an old KiCad 5 project, but the new file seems to be in the KiCad 6.0 Version.

Can it be installed on Linux with Kicad Ver 5.1.x?

You cannot use KiKit on Windows with KiCAD v5 as KiCAD v5 on Windows uses archaic Python2. On most Linux distros, you can use it with v5.

Hi, could you add this to your documentation please. I've been reading through it this morning and didn't find any mention of what versions of KiCAD were supported.

I will add this. At the moment, we support v6 and in the upcoming weeks, we will support both, v6 and v7.
