Changing the sheet property names for KiCad 7?

Hi,

I noticed that schematics files saved with KiCad 7 (file format version 20230121) have had their sheet property names renamed:

• Sheet name to Sheetname
• Sheet file to Sheetfile

A bigger change is that the symbol_instances list has been removed. Instead, each symbol has an instances sub-item that lists the instances for the particular symbol.

What would be the preferred way to handle different file format versions in KiKit?

Hi,
Since the changes are small and generally, we can get a sheet in any format; I suggest resolving both by first trying the v6 option and then the v7 option. E.g.:

f = getProperty(item, "Sheet file")
if f is None:
	# v7 format
	f = getProperty(item, "Sheetfile")
if f is None:
	raise SheetError("Invalid format - no Sheet file")
# Rest of the code

Ah, OK. I'll try to get into it soon! I reverted back to KiCad 6 for a bit but would like to get to KiCad 7 soon (although 7.0.0 did feel a bit crashy, at least on Mac).

I assumed there were no significant changes to the schematics format; I should have written some tests with the true v7 project. I hope this is the last bit of incompatibility with v7.

Just letting you know that the functionality should be implemented in 32a26ee. So far, it seems to work on all my tests. But I haven't tested it on a big project yet. Please, give it a try and let me know!
