Kikit with Kicad 8: what's the status?

I imagine that the Kikit version that worked (nicely!) with Kicad 7 needs some updates to work with Kicad 8 and its new features.

Of course being eager to start working with Kicad 8, I'm very interested in if/when Kikit might be available for that new version?

It's already in progress and I hope to have a first testable version ready next week.

Due to recent changes in my life, I am no longer devoting so much time to my open-source projects, so they are progressing slower than they used to. I didn't manage to keep up with my original intention to have a first testable version ready when the first release candidate is out. However, KiKit is not abandoned and there are no plans for abandoning it.

That's excellent news regarding imminent new Kikit version, Jan! You are already a star for creating this very useful add-on. It's none of our business, but I do wish you well with "your recent life changes".

The current upstream introduces support for KiCAD 8. It still needs testing; it is possible that there might be changes in KiCAD behavior I haven't spotted.

hi, I would like to test it in my setup, but I'm unable to get KiKit unning in v8. Could you give me some pointer where I could find a guide / some documentation on what to do?

I guess I have to install the kikit addon for v8 and also update the python package?
