Can't open different tab while some tabs are in split view

• I have read the instructions.
• I have searched existing issues and avoided creating duplicates.
• I am not filing an enhancement request.

What happened?

1. Open 3 different tabs
2. Split 2 of the tabs
3. Try to switch to 3rd tab
4. Split view is still visible and 3rd tab is not visible (only split highlight moves to the left side of the first split tab.

In the previous version the split tabs would hide, 3rd tab would come in focus.

Reproducible?

• I have checked that this issue cannot be reproduced on Mozilla Firefox.
