I think we need to revisit your position.
Too much icons and it makes my default icons like button power etc to my second screen on the right because of a lacking of spaces for your extension.
So it would be a good thing that in place of putting it somewhere or adding settings (since you don't want), that you would limit the number of icons to a specific number and add a submenu for the rest...
Do you want me to open a new issue for that or not?
I totally understand that you don't want to put settings pane in place etc.
The problem is that I don't yet own a 4K monitor and I want several extensions to be in my top bar. Which left very little space to your extension and like you, other dev don't want to make settings pane either. So what can the average user do? Just endure?
So what I propose is a compromise where you still don't put a settings pane, but you limit the number of listed programs to x like 5 for example and then you put a little arrow and there will be a list of all the remaining apps. I have too many apps that need to be open to fit in the space and you didn't think about that problem apparently.
