- Brought validation to two steps instead of three

This includes a number of changes after we were unable to push sooner due to issues with deployment using cci. Many files are different, but overall this is a cleaner version without a lot of items that are no longer needed. |
change to this file fixes a bug when someone tries to log in with a phone number with parenthesis and whatnot in the number eg. (800) 555-5555. Would previously only work as 8005555555
