April 5th, 2023. Gatekeeper v1.1 is officially out! Thanks to our partners, the release candidates of this version have been handling production traffic since the Summer of 2022.

November 29th, 2022. The second release candidate of version 1.1 of Gatekeeper is out. This release includes most of the feedback we received from deployers and has been running in production for about a month now.
September 8th, 2022. Napatech, a manufacturer of SmartNICs, is working to make their NICs tightly coupled with Gatekeeper. The beta of this integration should be out by the end of this year.
July 14th, 2022. A Gatekeeper deployer needed to reboot one of their Grantor servers today to move it to another subnet. Before rebooting the Grantor server, they queried for how long it has been running with the command systemctl status gatekeeper | grep since. The answer: "Active: active (running) since Wed 2021-09-15 21:17:47 UTC; 9 months 27 days ago"; almost 10 months straight!
June 7th, 2022. The first release candidate of version 1.1 of Gatekeeper is out. This release updates Gatekeeper's custom versions of DPDK and LuaJIT, enhances the log subsystem, and includes several small improvements. See the description of this release for details. If you have a deployment in production, now is the time to test and prepare for an eventual upgrade of your deployment.

October 26th, 2021. Gatekeeper has made to the top of the second page on GitHub of all the repositories related to DDoS with 639 stars. Of the 10 repositories on the first page, only 4 are dedicated to protecting against DDoS attacks. We have a long road ahead of us to eradicate DDoS attacks, and support from the community is essential to get there. Exactly one year ago, you put Gatekeeper on the top of the third page, and today you showed that you are committed to pushing it further. Thank you!

September 30th, 2021. We have posted a technical report that describes a potential application of Gatekeeper for circumventing large-scale link attacks using the cloud. All of our publications and presentations are available on the Publications page.
September 15th, 2021. After 6 years of research and development, minting 2 PhDs, presenting at 2 professional conferences, and addressing the feedback from 2 pioneer deployments, the first stable version of Gatekeeper is out!

June 9th, 2021. We just posted a technical report that gives a 12-page overview of the Gatekeeper architecture, implementation, and evaluation. It is a good introduction to Gatekeeper because it balances high-level insights with technical details.
May 20th, 2021. We are going to present Gatekeeper at NANOG 82. It's going to be a great opportunity to learn about Gatekeeper from a practical perspective and to ask questions to our team.
February 4th, 2021. Cody Doucette's Ph.D. thesis, "An architectural approach for mitigating next-generation denial of service attacks," is now available here. The thesis presents an overview of Gatekeeper and includes information about how to write destination policies.
December 3rd, 2020. Cody Doucette, a member of our team, successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis: an architectural approach for mitigating next-generation denial of service attacks. The presentation is an excellent introduction to Gatekeeper for those that want a deep understanding of Gatekeeper and insights into where it is going (slides available). November 30th, 2020. We presented Gatekeeper at GTER 49 | GTS 35. Watch the presentation and download the slides. Although the slides are in English, the presentation is in Portuguese.
November 3rd, 2020. The second release candidate of Gatekeeper 1.0.0 is out. This release candidate addresses a number of small issues, bugs, and needs identified during tests of the first release candidate in production.
October 26th, 2020. Gatekeeper has made to the top of the third page on GitHub of all the repositories related to DDoS; many, if not most, repositories in this list are attack tools. April 27th, 2020. Qiaobin Fu, a member of our team, successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis: high-performance software packet processing. His thesis presents many techniques that have been employed as well as some that will eventually be employed in Gatekeeper to make it go faster. April 2nd, 2020. The first release candidate of the first stable version of Gatekeeper is out.
