Describe the bug
I've been using this software for years on various Macs and various versions of the OS. For the last few releases of MacOS, BOINC continually puts up the error message "BOINC ownership or permissions are not set properly; please reinstall BOINC (Error code -1301)" with no indication of how to address the issue.

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Install BOINC on a Mac running, for example, OS 15.1.1
  2. Restart the Mac
  3. Watch the error message appear on screen

Expected behavior
The expected behaviour is for the software to install and run correctly.

@AenBleidd: This is not the same as #5588. That is about requiring a reinstall of BOINC after installing a new version of MacOS. @Upperholme is seeing the error every time they restart the computer.

@Upperholme: Please try running the "Uninstall BOINC" utility (included with the BOINC installer under extras) before running the installer again.

Thx @CharlieFenton - I've just done exactly that. We'll see if that improves things.

Did that solve the problem?

Since there was no any update during the last two months, I suspect the provided solutions helped.
If not - feel free to reply back, and I'll reopen the ticket.

Well... having had the same problem and previously found this, and followed the described steps with running the "Uninstall BOINC" utility and reinstalling, with the last MacOS update and restart, and getting the exact same problem again... I'm going to say it's not solved.
