+Mac OS X & Linux

+0. Make sure you have ``gcc`` installed, e.g.::

+    $ xcode-select --install  # OS X
+    $ sudo apt-get install build-essential  # Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, etc.
+    $ sudo yum group install "Development Tools"  # RedHat, CentOS
+
+1. Install `pyenv <https://github.com/yyuu/pyenv>`_
+
+    - If you're using `homebrew <https://github.com/homebrew/homebrew>`_ or
+      `linuxbrew <https://github.com/Homebrew/linuxbrew>`_,
+      follow the `homebrew installation instructions

+    - If you're not using homebrew, you probably should be

+2. Install the latest stable version of Python::

+2. Create a virtual environment (homework: check out `virtualenv

+
+3. Activate your virtual environment::

+4. Install a package::
