General Spatial Layers DPN setup steps

Status of this document is: Experimental (not yet tested)

  1. Establish a Dataset URI for data - e.g. http://data.example.org/dataset/boundaryfeature
  2. Determine URIs for each Feature - e.g. http://data.example.org/dataset/boundaryfeature/GBRMPA_Burdekin_Midshelf
  3. Establish a hierarchy schema - http://data.example.org/def/ereefs/marineboundaryhierarchy
  4. Establish hierarchy terms - http://data.example.org/def/ereefs/marineboundaryhierarchy/water_quality_region
  5. Install a WFS implementation - e.g. Geoserver
  6. Publish Feature layers in WFS
  7. Create schema for all layers
  8. Deliver specific vocab terms through individual layers' schema
  9. Create a/multiple metadata entries in a catalog service for the spatial layers
  10. Model the Spatial Layers dataset and its various service expressions (WFS data, CSW metadata, SISSVoc terms) in the DPN onotology
  11. Create the PID Service URI abstraction layer to facilitate regular access to the DPN ontology instances
  12. Add the new Dataset with a DPN, or create a new DPN for it
  13. Lodge it with a Conformance Service to test
