No I am not. Not fond about giving access to tools that are perfect to drive narratives and then being used as fodder or hyper units to dunk on station/ship with little to no consideration for anyones PC. Think they should be far more in line with P3 units.

Slept over this. Not fond of this entire unwritten Stigma of "Station/Ship have to be NPCs and must be interchangeable". Its honestly pretty respectless all things considered :/.

Nerfs a bunch of shit I added. Honestly if it was for me I'd gut them entirely out of code.

Why It's Good For The Game

It is.

This should minimize frustrations (i.e. 50 dodge..). They are still fun to fight. They are just less of a tool for anyone using them to basically run around in demi-godmode and further superpower their thing with no regard towards what others have created.

There'll likely be a discussion about this elsewhere given what this is but just as a reminder.

The separation between the codebase and the proceedings on server is something that's in place to an extent for every server including Citadel.

As such, the objective comments I have to make as a maintainer is;

  • comments need to be pruned, this is the server project, admin drama has no place in it.
  • what reasoning is there for the balance changes? I saw the old values and they're actually pretty on par for mercenary-level mobs, even weaker in some respects. The speed is all they really have for them.

The only change here I agree with is dropping evasion from 50 to 25, as that on a fast high damage mob is pretty obnoxious.

The rest (Wraith) is utterly obnoxious to fight (its beam weapon is brute damage and not a low amount. Has 15% intrinsic dodge, good armor, good HP and an overshield while being mobile in the initial version thats currently merged) and I rather absolutely NOT give anyone tools to that given the current situation and agenda of the untold rule that we all must play interchangables. That kind of Agenda/Untold Rule is unfortunately not agreeable. At all.

If it is not get amended, as in the P4 units getting brought in line so they cannot be exploited for further, and I hate using the word, "power fantasies" without anything for the players to gain from it other than being shot to shit and medical recovery RP I rather cut any further contribution at large. Its just simply that unagreeable on. I am sorry to say.

The idea was great for them. They work very well for what they are they are absolutely spooky to go up against (Specially with the animation loop they have, specially that of the banshee...) But: Just being shot to shit by P3/P2 on the first encounter with a P4 with no tangible buildup or not even a chance to interact in a meaningful way that affects peoples characters other than medical RP. Theres no consequence to actions. Other than being shot to shit. No weight, no gravitas. All I can say I am very glad I did get to partake in the event before PRing Revenant, Dybukk and Marauder units. It was the equivalent of the DM dropping 4 mindflayers on the party as much as it pains to say.

I removed the comments in code. The point still stands. I rather not have my units be used to just shoot explo to shit (The Wraith in particular is VERY well capable of doing that at least in its initial iteration, again its ripped from RA2 MO Rahn) or to shoot a research team to shit with next to no meaninful interaction or anything they can gain anything tangible out of it.

After an internal discussion, we have concluded that this PR exists as an attack on a member of staff for running an event you disliked, and not for any real balance or design purposes. Please do not make such PRs, they will be denied.

You are welcome to have a civil discussion with event admins and maintainers in an admin ticket or in #development-rp on the vision you have for your content, this is not the way to go about things.
