📢 A major overhaul is underway on the next branch. Please see my sponsorship page for further details.

DTOcean

DTOcean is an open-source tool for design and techno-economic assessment of marine renewable energy arrays.

DTOcean can calculate:

  • Optimal ocean energy converter (OEC) positioning
  • Energy export infrastructure
  • Station keeping requirements based on OEC performance and site conditions
  • Installation planning with weather effects
  • Maintenance planning, simulating OEC downtime
  • Environmental impact assessment (experimental)

And features include:

  • A unique statistical approach to calculating levelized cost of energy (LCOE)
  • OEC reliability influenced at component level
  • Graphical user interface
  • Persistent database
  • Wizard based installation (for Windows)

This repository contains DTOcean installation wizards and can also be used for submitting and tracking issues.

  • For 64 and 32-bit Windows only.

Documentation

See https://dtocean.github.io for the latest documentation.

Credits

This version of DTOcean was developed and published by Mathew Topper at Data Only Greater as a continuation of the EU FP7 DTOcean project.

Also, please check out the EU H2020 DTOceanPlus project, which expanded the scope of the DTOcean tools. The source code for DTOceanPlus is available here.

Installation

Wizard Based Installer

The DTOcean installation wizard (for 64 or 32-bit) can be downloaded from the Releases page.

Example Files

The getting_started_example_files-*.zip zip folder can be downloaded from the Releases page. See the "Getting Started 1: Example Project" chapter of the docs to see how it is used.

Database

See the dtocean-database repository for download and installation instructions.

Note: DTOcean version 2.0.0 requires version 2.0.0 of the DTOcean database.

Manual

Installers for the "in-app" manual (accessed from the "Help" menu) can be downloaded from the dtocean.github.io repository.

Help

Links to video tutorials for installing DTOcean can be found at www.dataonlygreater.com.

Uninstall

To uninstall, either select the "Uninstall DTOcean" icon from the "DTOcean (XX-bit)" start menu folder, or choose "DTOcean version 2.0.0+0" from "Programs and Features" in the control panel or "Apps & Features" in "Settings" (Windows 10).
