Are there any plans to release these packages officially for ROS 2 (e.g., so they are built by the ROS 2 buildfarm, indexed by index.ros.org, and users with ROS 2 can install them directly via apt)?

We have thought about doing so in the past, however it is not on our timeline. I will leave this issue open.
