How to read swisslex

Finding Metadata

There is kind-of-a metadata block in //div[@id="_documentid_"] that lists metadata as //li[contains(@class,"meta-entry")]. Each datum is split in two span, the first one containing the human readable label, the second one the human readable datum.

  • 'issue' for journals is hidden in DOKUMENT in the second preg word before the slash - or missing
  • edition is explicitely labeled AUFLAGE, hidden in DOKUMENT as '6.A.' (6th edition) or missing (event though the data is available when selecting a work...)
  • DATUM may be spelled URTEILSDATUM
  • TITEL (title) may contain multiple paragraphs for subtitles - alternatively spelled DOKUMENTTITEL (for legal commentaries)
  • REIHE may be labeled SERIE/REIHE (series) and may begin with a series abbreviation (plus dash) before its full title
  • legal commentaries have two titles, once in ARTIKELKOMMENTAR (law - article), once in DOKUMENTTITEL (article - law)
  • for cases, the docket number is in DOKUMENT
  • GERICHT (court) seems uniformly contain a) either a canton or 'Schweiz' b) comma c) court name, however
