Plugins! Plugins! Plugins! This is your place to list your recommended Obsidian Plugins!

If a plugin can go into multiple categories, you are allowed to list it, but we do ask you limit it to 2 categories.

Any more, and you may want to consider listing it under the Cursed Gem category.

All But the Cursed Gems

Name: Dataview by Michael Brendan

Summary: Dataview dataview dataview.. what don't you do? Pay the bills, is about it. Dataview is a plugin that turns your vault into a database. It is so popular, and used so much, it ought to be a core plugin at this point.

Application: If you see a very nice looking spell list that shows the spell level, materials needed, and class, chances are it is a Dataview table. You can use it to do paper-doll character inventory sheets. Create tables of monsters. Semi-automate template design. All of that barely scratching the surface.

Name: Templater by SilentVoid13

Summary: If Dataview is a powerhouse database, then Templater is the original note automator king. Many Character, Location, Scene, Session, Faction, and even Handlebar templates rely on the PHP variable functions that templater adds to

Application: Nearly anything. Template files that can wait to move until saved, ask for a title and rename themselves, or add metadata based off where they are moved to or how they are tagged. These make templating and thus adding of mass amounts of data to your vault so much easier.

Bestiary

Name: TTRPG Statblocks by Valentine195

Summary: Create statblocks inside of Obsidian to display your monsters, npc's, characters, and more. Includes functionality for rollable dice. Use its internal bestiary for storage, or read directly from your Obsidian note, or both! This is considered a must have for any TTRPG user.

Application: The customization of the layouts allows these statblocks to be modified to work with any system, not just Dungeons and Dragons. It can also be modified to work with unusual entities, like vehicles or even characters, as long as the layout is set up correctly.

Note Management

Name: Admonitions by Valentine195

Summary: For when callouts do not get the job done, admonitions are for you. Take the power of a code-block, with the prettiness of a callout, and combine it into one. That is admonitions.

Application: So I heard you like.... Tables in your admonitions, Dataviews and attributions, statblocks that stick side by side, and tables that don't wander and hide. They accept your callouts too, it's true, and as of late they are sharable files boo!

Really, just get them, don't make me sing a song to you over discord.
