Purpose

A lot of us go to restaurants. A lot of us want to go to restaurants but don't know any good ones. If you're a member of the former group and want to help the latter group, consider reviewing some restaurants you've been to. It'll help when we have visitors and new people.

Places around campus

Restaurace U Pětníka

A local Czech pub with mostly Czech food and burgers. Most of the Czech food has a slight twist on it that makes it a little different than other Czech restaurants.

Payment methods: cash, card, stravenky Vegetarian options: fried cheese and a few other things

Grosseto Pizzeria Ristorante

A fairly fancy Italian chain restaurant. Good Italian food including pasta, fish, and pizza.

Payment methods: cash, card, stravenky Vegetarian options: ?

Bernard Pub

A Czech pub chain serving typical Czech food and pub fare like burgers. The soup of the day is usually really good. They also serve a range of Bernard beers, which are worth checking out. Kulajda soup is amazing.

Payment methods: cash, card, stravenky Vegetarian options: there's always exactly one for lunch and a few in the dinner menu.

Bistro Santinka

A cafe/restaurant known for their baked potatoes. It's a fairly small place, so it's hard to go with a large group.

Payment methods: cash, card, stravenky Vegetarian options: half the lunch menu and several items on the menu

Vietnamese Restaurant Dua

A local favorite for Vietnamese food. Authentic? Can get fairly crowded at lunch time.

Location: https://goo.gl/maps/2uVEipw2XLgd98Ek8
Payment methods: cash, card, stravenky Vegetarian options: yes

Mei Xin

There are many little Chinese restaurants in the area; this is the only decent one. We usually do take away because we don't like the grungy interior. The food is OK though.

Location: https://goo.gl/maps/tbeSZJxizqFft8y8A
Payment methods: cash, stravenky, not card Vegetarian options: yes

Karavan

Uzbek cuisine and burgers. Surprisingly good and cheap.

Website: karavanfood.cz
Location: https://goo.gl/maps/hE8bTHWjZJEEUBwr8
Payment methods cash, card, stravenky? Vegetarian options: falafel and nothing else

Kebab Star & Pizza

Best place for a genuine kebab-and-fries experience. Or a cardboard pizza. Take away, unless you brought your sauna towel.

Website: kebabarny.cz
Location: https://goo.gl/maps/tHP3gXjBMdMZXBiN6
Payment methods: cash, card, not stravenky, and they'll try to convince you to pay cash if they sense weakness Vegetarian options: falafel and nothing else

Symphonia (Hotel restaurant at Hotel International)

They do OK steak, but they charge you through the nose for it. It's also surprisingly grungy for a hotel restaurant.

Website: symphonia-restaurant.cz
Location: https://goo.gl/maps/kwi6BHHsXq4WnKEQ9
Payment methods: cash, cards, arms, legs Vegetarian options: unknown

DuHa

Asian (but mostly Vietnamese) restaurant. Great for lunches, alright for dinner. They also do sushi, including vegetarian sushi. A small place, but in the summer they set up tables on the sidewalk.

Restaurace U Švejka

Grungy and cheap Czech pub full of blue collar atmosphere. The food is good though.

Website: good joke Location: https://goo.gl/maps/CcX2uhg19Ajezstc9 Payment methods: cash, stravenky, maybe cards? Vegetarian options: fried cheese

Jidelna M&D

A breakfast & lunch cafeteria with very good food. It's only open form 7 to 15 and it gets very busy. The staff is friendly, but don't speak English. It's a good, if hectic choice for lunch.

Restaurace U Topolů

Restaurace Pod Juliskou

Restaurant U Cedru

Restaurants around town

Havana grill

Location: Havana Grill, Rumunská 237/34, 120 00 Praha 2-Vinohrady
Pictures: burger

A tiny place close to Naměstí Míru with a lot of atmosphere and not a lot of chairs. It's supposed to be a Cuban-style grill, but I can't attest to its authenticity. But it is a good casual burger joint and the way the meat an sauces are spiced produces a distinct flavor and makes it different from the what I consider to be a typical burger joint. --ks

Jelica

Location: Na Zlíchově 35, 150 00 Hl.m. Praha-Praha 5
Website: http://www.jelica.cz/
Pictures: starters, cervapici

A fairly fancy Serbian restaurant that tries to re-create the atmosphere of the Balkans with its decor and the way the waiters are dressed. The food is meat and vegetable platters. I personally really enjoyed it. --ks

Restaurace Bruska

Location: Dejvická 253/20, 160 00 Praha 6
Website: http://www.restaurace-bruska.cz/

A typical Czech pub with typical Czech pub food, service, and a TV with sports playing. --ks
