In addition to other CP/M implementations, CP/M-IDE includes performance optimised drivers from the z88dk RC2014 support package for the ACIA Module serial interface, for the SIO Module serial interface, for the IDE Hard Drive Module disk interface, and also for the Compact Flash Module disk interface.

The RC2014 Pro build supports the RC2014 Pro standard SIO/2 Serial Module and Compact Flash Module in their usual configuration.

In the MINI, 8085, and 8085CF builds, the receive interface has a 255 byte software buffer, together with optimised buffer management supporting the 68C50 ACIA receive double buffer. Hardware (RTS) flow control of the ACIA is provided. The ACIA transmit interface is also buffered, with direct cut-through when the 31 byte software buffer is empty, to ensure that the CPU is not held in wait state during serial transmission.

The CP/M-IDE system supports up to 4 active CP/M "drives" (files) of nominally 8 MBytes each. There can be as many CP/M drives stored on the FAT32 formatted disk as desired, and CP/M-IDE can be started with any 4 of them. Collections of hundreds of CP/M drives can be stored in any number of sub-directories on the FAT32 disk. Knock yourself out.

All CP/M-IDE builds provide over 56kB of free TPA to the user's CP/M applications. The ACIA build BDOS origin is `0xE400` for both Z80 and 8085 CPUs. The RC2014 Pro build (CF Module) and the SIO Module build (with IDE Hard Drive Module) BDOS origin is `0xE300`.
