RESTFest is an "Open" conference. That means we welcome any and all who want to participate. It's not a free conference (it does cost us money to put this thing together!), but the price is kept as low as possible and still treat attendees well while they visit Greenville, SC.
If you're curious and want to see what it would be like to be cooped up with us for a long weekend, you can join the RESTFest mailing list and drop in on the IRC channel (restfest on freenode). The mailing list is where announcements first appear and where several key decisions are handled. If you're on the list, you get to influence the content and execution of this year's RESTFest!
The next step (assuming you're still interested in this stuff) is to add your name to the People page (and your associated wiki page) here. Check out the existing pages to get an idea of what to add. No set rules here, but be sure to include something about yourself, some contact info and topics you'd like to talk about. You don't have to get it all done in one go, either. If all you have for now is your name, fine!
Because the whole idea behind RESTFest is that everyone talks, we usually keep the attendance rather low. last year there were under 40 people at the event. So, once you know you will be able to attend, you should head on over the Registration Page and sign up and pay to reserve your spot.
Remember, everyone talks at RESTFest. You'll be expected to deliver at least a five-minute lightning talk so we can all hear about what your'e working on/thinking about. If you'd like to offer up a 30 minute "featured" talk, be sure to include the details on your "People Page." As we get close to the event (usually late summer), we'll decide which featured talks will be presented.
Yep. If you've got friends who would like to attend, who would enjoy a relaxed weekend listening and speaking about REST-y stuff, then by all means, tell them about us. The more the merrier (at least until we run out of room, that is).
