3. Player Custom Skins
Nowadays creating your custom skin can be done through the GUI! So ezpz. You'll be able to add your skin in no time.
I'll leave below the old ways of doing stuff just in case its useful for someone in the future!
Go here and upload an image yourself. You will need to upload the image that comes with the Stream Tool, as it uses upscaled versions of the characters. The Recolorer has the original resolution ones, so this step is necessary or things won't work right. Select the character you want to recolor, then upload Resources/Characters/[Character you want to recolor]/Default.png
.
After that, paste the color code of the custom skin you want to create, then download and save that image.
Now that we have the png, name the png like the player name this skin will belong to, and drop it on Resources/Characters/*the character you need*
. For example:

And for it to appear on the interface, we need to create a player preset. Go here to learn how to!
If for any reason you can't use the Recolorer site, I'll leave here the method we had to use before technology saved us. Tutorials for both Photoshop and Gimp:
First thing you have to do is to go to this folder and download the template for the character you want.
Take a screenshot of your desired custom color and paste it into GIMP, and then open the template in a separate window.
Now, select the Pencil tool, and set the size to something really big (I use the maximum size of 10k, but if your computer can't handle it, ~1k pixel size might be enough) and make sure opacity is set to 100.
Take a look at the layers for the template, you'll see there are a lot of them. Each layer corresponds to every different colored zone that the characters can have. Right-click the first layer and then click on Alpha to selection
.
You'll notice that a big area has been selected, and if you take a closer look, you'll see that it's all just one color, as I said earlier. Now, in the screenshot, look for the area that corresponds to that body part that you've highlighted. Most of them are pretty easy to spot, but just in case, they're all labeled in a way that can somewhat help you find them.
Once you've located the area (you might have to zoom in a little for some shades and shadows), hold Ctrl
and click there: this will select the color of that body part. Now, just click and drag the pencil all over the template to paint that layer with the new color.
Once you've done that, simply repeat this process with all layers until you hit the Outline
layer; after that one, all colors stay the same no matter the skin you're using. Once you're done, just hit Ctrl+e
to save the image as a .png
file and you're done!
First you need to grab an image from The Folder™ of the character you need (make sure it's the regular image, not an "OR").
Open the character you need on photoshop, and take a screencap of the custom skin screen ingame with your skin.
Go to Select
-> Color Range
, set fuzzines to 0 and select the color you want to change.
Now that we have what we need selected, press B
(brush tool), alt-click the color you need on the custom color image and paint the new image with that color.
Now... repeat the process until you finish! Then, save the image as png.
