Instrument Tools Addon
NOTE: Please note that this addon will not work on any version below 2.8!

Edit -> Preferences -> Add-ons

On the top of the window, click on "Install..."

Select the "Blender2MTS - Instrument Tools.zip" file and click install
Numbers Panel (Open with N key) -> MTS/IV Tab
-> MTS/IV Instrument Tools
-> (MTS/IV) Add Instrument
This should add a vertical plane to the scene at the world origin.
Make any transformations in Object Mode. Any action done in Edit Mode will not be applied to the object and only edits the geometry.
Don't apply any transformations done in Object Mode, this will reset the position, rototation and scale of the object.
Adjust the hudPos and hudScale using the panel in Properties Panel -> Object Properties -> MTS/IV Instrument Properties

-> MTS/IV Instrument Tools
-> (MTS/IV) Instrument HudPos

Select the instrument object you want to edit.

Click on
(MTS/IV) Instrument HudPos
. This should show an overlay with the hud panel and the instrument.Note: This also shows a ghost image of the other instruments.

To move the instrument click and drag it or use the arrow keys. The arrow keys moves the instrument by
10px
and1px
while holding theshift
key. -
Right clicking the instrument brings up a context menu, with input boxes to change the HUD positions and scale.

To save the changes, click on the button with the checkmark. To revert or cancel the changes click on the button with the cross.
There are three locations where the import and export buttons can be found:

File -> Import/Export ->
MTS/IV Instruments (.json)

Numbers Panel (Open with N key) ->
MTS/IV Tab
->MTS/IV Instrument Tools
->Import/Export Instruments

Properties Panel -> Object Properties ->
MTS/IV Instrument Properties
->Import/Export Instruments

This opens up the file browser. Navigate to the the json you want to import. This json must include the
instruments
section. -
Click on "Import Instruments" or hit enter.

This will create instruments with the provided transforms and HUD positions.

Clicking on the export button will open the file browser. Navigate to the save location and enter the filename.

Click on "Export Instruments" or hit enter.
