MATLAB Version Support Policy
This document describes the MATLAB version support policy for development and releases of WecOptTool. Mathworks does not encourage or facilitate support for legacy versions of MATLAB, thus WecOptTool aims to always support the latest version of MATLAB.
For development (i.e. the code on the master branch) the coding team should endeavor to use the latest (licensed) version of MATLAB available to all team members. This may have some lag compared to the true current MATLAB version where MATLAB licenses are being centrally managed. This approach ensures compatibility for current MATLAB license holders (i.e. the target audience) and allows the latest MATLAB features to be accessible to the development team.
At the point of publication of a WecOptTool release, the current MATLAB version in use will be documented. Community feedback will be sought to confirm compatibility with older MATLAB versions, and where compatibility can be improved with minor changes we will endeavour to make them. At the point of a new MATLAB version release, it will be tested to check compatibility with the latest WecOptTool release. If it is found to be incompatible, a minor point update to the WecOptTool release may be made to ensure compatibility, if no major WecOptTool release is planned in the near future.
The current version of MATLAB used for development is: MATLAB R2020b (Update 1)
