Getting Started for Staff

This video walks you through how to make changes to the website in general, though it was for a different class.

  1. How to edit the calendar schedule
Go to _modules and edit the markdown file for the corresponding week. For a list of label styles, see here.
  2. How to edit course staff profiles
Go to _staffers and edit the markdown file for the corresponding staff. You can also update their profile pictures in resources/assets/staff_pics/. Make sure the filenames match.
  3. Syllabus and Resources can be edited in the corresponding markdown files.

Note to staff: Always pull changes before making any edits.

Setting up Repo for New Semester

  1. Clone the website-base repository.
  2. Edit the baseurl field in _config.yml to the repo name.
  3. Update the links in _config.yml.
  4. Run the script init.py and follow the instructions displayed. Running this script will automatically generate weekly schedule markdowns for the _modules folder.
  5. Edit other files manually (index.md, syllabus.md, enrollment.md, calendar.md, etc)
  6. Add hyperlink of the new semester webpage to index.md in UCB-Econ-148.github.io.
