With experiment a we want to solve all related issues in order to test the hypothesis:

"Metacatalog can export all stored data as files" and "Re-implementation of the metacatalog.ext.io makes more sense than continuing to adjust the implementation."

To achieve this milestone and therefore test the hypotheses, we re-implement the extension and test a number of file operations, as described in the related issues.
