XOOPS is one of world's leading Open Source CMS (Content Management System), written in PHP for the MySQL database. Its object orientation makes it an ideal tool for developing small or large community websites, corporate portals, weblogs and much more.

XOOPS is an acronym of eXtensible Object Oriented Portal System.

Though it began as a portal system, XOOPS is primarily used as a Content Management System and is transitioning towards a Web Application Platform. It can also function as a web framework suitable for small, medium, and large websites.
