Custom objects adds new Permissions option to Admin menu > Roles > New or Edit > Permissions called Custom Object Permissions. In there you can set permissions for Custom Fields, Custom Objects and for each of the Custom Object Items you create. In the example bellow there is visible Custom Object called Products.
