A better beta

This has some minor changes to functionality. API is unchanged. Lots of code refactoring.

Beta Release

After some changes I think the API is in a relatively settled state. Everything works, the typings are in good shape and a few tricky bits have been solved. Not yet used within any major production application so calling this a first beta version.

First Release

This is a first alpha release. The API is subject to change and it might be broken. Use at your own peril!
