alvr_web_server.exe has been removed to make the installation and connection process more reliable.

Please read the new installation and usage instructions in the README.

  • You should NOT register the driver anymore, it is handled automatically. This resolves incompatibilities with Oculus Link. You should still register the driver if you want to use Driver4VR for full body tracking.
  • The lag frames before the stream have been reduced.
  • Now SteamVR must be ALWAYS running to use ALVR. If you close SteamVR the client will not connect anymore.
  • Connection to the client may take more time now. Please be patient and wait for SteamVR to restart.

Other changes:

  • Fix autoupdater checks. You may have to install this update manually.

The latest client version is still v13.0.0.

Previous ALVR client (v12.5.0) is NOT compatible with this release.
You need to download alvr_client.apk from this release and install it on your headset.

New since v12.6.1:

  • ALVR Launcher now checks that SteamVR and MS Visual C++ Redistributable are installed (by @zarik5)
  • ALVR now transmits headset battery percentage (by @Nexite)
    • You can find it on the SteamVR monitor window (hover over the headset icon)
  • Fix black artifacts when sharpening is enabled (reintroduced previous fix by @ohtaketakeshi)
  • Add selection of Local or Stage tracking (by @maxer456)
    • Stage tracking behaves like a wired headset - room center stays in one place even after recentering the headset by exiting the boundary, taking it off or holding the system button on the right controller.

This is a prerelease intended to test fixes for the Quest 2, mainly for cross-eyed view.

This version of ALVR is NOT compatible with the current version on SideQuest (12.0.0).
You need to download alvr_client.apk from this release and install it on your headset.

New since v12.4.1:

  • IPD setting is now reported by the client and should be correctly set on PC after connecting
  • Client now uses correct resolution on both Quest 1 and Quest 2
  • About tab now has a button to check for updates (non-prerelease) by @5he1n
  • Russian localization by @5he1n
  • Partial German localization by @Caligo-Immortalem
  • Spanish localization fixes by @jonathanhecl

Compatibility notice: since now FoV is controlled by the client, the eyeFov settings cannot be used anymore. This means that the fix for some games like DCS World cannot be applied anymore. This issue will be addressed in a future update.

New since v12.4.0:

  • ALVR now always uses FoV values reported by the client (should fix cross-eyed image on Oculus Quest 2)
  • Fixed an UI crash when there is no output audio device which was causing ALVR UI to appear blank.

Compatibility notice: since now FoV is controlled by the client, the eyeFov settings cannot be used anymore. This means that the fix for some games like DCS World cannot be applied anymore. This issue will be addressed in a future update.

  • Updated UI library now prioritizes Chrome and Chromium over Edge (prevents Edge from pinning itself if Chrome is also installed)
  • Audio device where ALVR will play Quest mic sound can now be selected in Audio settings (default is still VB-Audio Virtual Cable if installed)
