An important benefit of intent-centric architectures, according to Zaki, is the ability to have several UIs, each with their own preference functions, that can feed into the same solving system, something that can remove the fragmentation that currently exists between applications dealing with similar or complementary intents. As an example, he mentioned needing to run through 6 different travel apps that morning to find one that could get him to his destination. “What you would want is, yes there can be many apps and some of them specialize in letting you express different preferences, but there could be just 1 app that drivers use and pull all the order flow that matches for them.”
