Inter is more readable than Work Sans for big amounts of text.
It looks bigger with the same font size, but at the same time a bit narrower than the Work Sans.
At the same time, Work Sans looks better on the promotional pages.
I think it's good practice to pick the right tool depending on the context.
This change doesn't affect the /blog page. We can decide what to do with it after merging this PR: #789
